Annual Outreach Programme 2014/15
Gene Louw Traffic College (GLTC) adopted Zanokhanyo Children’s Safety Home in Makhasa, Khayelitsha as part of its 2014/2015 Annual Outreach Programme, a greater community initiative to give back and assist communities in need.
The home is managed by Nolu and Christophe Nditha who opened their hearts and took in street children supporting them with food, shelter and love.
The mission of Zanokhanyo is to provide a loving and caring environment so that the children can grow up and become responsible adults.
GLTC will help the Zanokhanyo Children's Safety Home to put smiles on the faces and warm the hearts of the children for the year ahead in the following ways:
The college previously participated in three successful outreach programmes. Staff members gave generously and participated in these initiatives finding the experiences with the homes both fulfilling and rewarding on a professional and personal level.
The outreach programmes have become an integral part of GLTC’s social responsibility and will continue in the years to come.
Trees for Pauline
Gene Louw Traffic College supports the campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October 2014 by adorning the entrance to the college with pink material, a project which was initiated by Rawson Properties, Brackenfell.
Trees or pillars are cheerfully wrapped in pink cloth on Brackenfell Boulevard representing the legacy of two women from the Western Cape both named Pauline who died of cancer a few years ago. The aim of the project is to raise funds for cancer sufferers through the selling of pink material to businesses in the Brackenfell area who, in turn, wrapped the trees closest to their location. The pink material symbolises an expression of new life.
This drive is a reminder of the increasing amount of cancer sufferers and the hope for recovery as well as a special message sent to the world to promote awareness.
