87 traffic officers graduate from Gene Louw Traffic College

After an arduous 12 months of training, 87 newly qualified traffic officers graduated at a ceremony held on 13 December 2021 at Gene Louw Traffic College (GLTC) in Cape Town. These proud holders of the accredited Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Road Traffic Law Enforcement have all been deployed at various traffic centres to assist with the task of keeping road users in the Western Cape safe.

The 2021 training course was very different to preceding years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Face-to-face classes had to be cancelled at short notice and replaced by virtual means of instruction whenever there was a risk of exposure. Trainees and trainers had to work long hours and on weekends to ensure that the course could be completed in the scheduled 12-month timeframe.

Succeeding so well in these challenging circumstances augers well for the future of GLTC and its mission of encouraging a culture of life-long learning, enriching lives by creating an open society for all.  

We wish these graduates all of the best in their chosen career. May they all strive to be there for the calling of being a traffic officer, striving towards a bright future, even when they face challenges on the job.

We encourage this new group of traffic officers to learn from each situation that they encounter in order to be more prepared for the next one, to better themselves every day, and to bravely recover whenever they fail.
