In Suid Afrika is daar ook `n politieke element by landbou.
Friends, my message to you today is that the future leaders of agriculture are going to be very important people in our country. These future leaders will have to be true leaders:
I want to conclude: Agriculture will exist as long as there are people, because people need to eat. Solank daar mense is wat moet eet, sal daar Landbou wees. But this agricultural sector will keep on changing to such an extent that we are not able to even conceptualise what it is going to like in the near future.
There will be many opportunities in agriculture. Some of the jobs you might do in your lifetime do not even exist today.
The most important thing you can do right now is to be positive about the sector. If we send a positive message out to the world about farming in South Africa, we will get people to invest in the sector. Investment will bring progress. Progress will secure your careers in this very exciting business of farming.
