The City of Cape Town's Sport, Recreation and Amenities Department in partnership with 11Global will host the third annual 11Global Triathlon at Big Bay Beach on Sunday 20 February 2011.
The triathlon consists of a 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike ride and a 10km run. 11global aims to develop this race into the premier Olympic-distance event in South Africa. The event is sanctioned by Triathlon South Africa.
In partnership with Western Province Triathlon, 11Global will present swimming clinics for learners on behalf of the City of Cape Town The clinics will be conducted by international triathletes at two of the City's swimming pools. Some of the learners will participate in the triathlon as part of 11Global's development programme.
The clinics will be devoted to learners currently participating in the City's swimming programmes from the six districts within the city. It is hoped that the clinics will further enhance training and progress for developmental swimmers.
Approximately 80 learners will participate at both the Atlantis Swimming Pool clinic and the Blue Downs Swimming Pool clinic.
