Festive season Public Transport Sticker project

This December holiday season we’ll be running the Public Transport Sticker campaign again. If your public transport vehicle is in good condition, traffic officers will provide you with a sticker that verifies your vehicle’s fitness at that time. This will reduce delays at other public transport vehicle checkpoints on your route. Trailers can also be checked.

Is your vehicle roadworthy?

Public transport vehicles must have full roadworthy checks every 6 months, remember that there is some wear and tear every time you use a vehicle. Go for a free check at Joe Gqabi transport terminus in Philippi conducted by qualified officer before you embark on a long trips. You won’t be fined for any vehicle defect identified during such a check. This will give you time to repair or replace any defective component, making you and your passengers safer on the road, and reducing the risk of fines later on. 

Overloading vehicles

Overloading is a problem over the festive season period because many people want to transport goods and luggage. Overloading causes many hazards and changes the way vehicles respond. Please don’t overload your vehicle for your own safety and that of other road users. 
To manage the overloading of vehicles, 5 of the Western Cape’s 9 weighbridges will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Be responsible and cautious on the road

It’s also important that you don’t speed, drink and drive, or drive when you’re tired. Make sure that your vehicle is roadworthy before you go on holiday or plan on traveling long distances. Here’s more information on vehicle roadworthy testing.
