Western Cape Departments of Human Settlements and Social Development, and SAHRC collaborate to improve Human Rights for people with disabilities
Tomorrow, the Western Cape Departments of Human Settlements and Social Development, together with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), will brief media on their plans to improve Human Rights for people with disabilities and special needs.
The briefing follows outcomes of a meeting held recently between the departments and SAHRC to discuss the matter and collaborate their efforts to strengthen and improve Human Rights for the most vulnerable in our society.
The Western Cape Department of Human Settlements has 3 strategic goals, 1 of them specifically focusses on “Prioritising the most vulnerable beneficiaries”.
The Department of Social Development provides a basket of services to people with disabilities, including residential facilities and other services aimed at creating self-reliance and empowerment.
As we conclude Human Rights month in 2017, this media briefing will share how the Departments, together with SAHRC, will collaborate in their efforts to provide suitable human settlements options, and other services, to people with disabilities and special needs. Both Departments will unveil their plans to deal with special cases which have been brought to their attention.
