DTPW communication display celebrates public service excellence

Like the rest of the Western Cape Government, the Department of Transport and Public Works (DTPW) strives to provide excellent service delivery to all residents of the province as well as to our visitors. To learn more about the work of the Department, members of the public can see our communication display in the concourse area at 7 Wale Street, Cape Town (office hours) until mid-October. 

The DTPW display is testament to our vision to lead in the delivery of government infrastructure and related services. With our hardworking and dedicated staff members, we strive to:

• Provide safe and secure learning facilities for school children,
• Provide facilities for quality healthcare services,
• Provide high-quality provincial roads,
• Provide efficient motor vehicle registration and licensing services,
• Support safe, affordable and reliable public transport networks and operations,
• Empower people through job and skills development programmes,
• Provide bursaries for tertiary-level and postgraduate studies in the transport, engineering and built environment fields,
• Upgrade and maintain office accommodation for provincial departments,
• Improve access to housing, economic opportunities and social amenities,
• Improve road safety and train highly-skilled traffic officers,
• Provide traffic law enforcement services, and
• Provide short-term employment and training opportunities through the Expanded Public Works Programme.

The DTPW also provides many other services some of which are small, but essential for smooth day-to-day operations.  Through providing government infrastructure and supporting job creation, we are committed to delivering infrastructure and services to promote positive socio-economic outcomes and safe, empowered and connected communities.

We hope that you find the time to engage with this display,” said Jacqueline Gooch, DPTW Head of Department.

The Western Cape Government water-saving display will replace the DTPW display during October. The DTPW display will be travelling to our regional offices in the coming months.
