The latest report on the state of water use and management in South Africa will be launched this week.
During the next First Thursday (2 March 2017), GreenCape will launch its Water 2017 Market Intelligence Report. The report investigates the cost of water, water use by sector, investment opportunities in the water sector, and provides insights into the state of water management in the Western Cape and South Africa.
Economic Opportunities Minister Alan Winde, in partnership with GreenCape, will also showcase affordable and practical ways residents can save water at home.
Cape-based suppliers will exhibit household water-savings technologies, including rain and greywater systems, and smart metering devices, which record water consumption, allow for digital control, and help detect leaks.
Minister Winde said the Western Cape was experiencing its worst drought in 100 years, stressing that all residents and businesses should play their part by learning about how to conserve resources. “During February, we hosted an energy efficiency awareness campaign where we showcased businesses which are leading the way in green energy.
To further raise awareness on the Western Cape’s water situation, we are also working with the hospitality sector to share our water-savings message with visitors to our province. We all must do our part to save water.”
Raymond Siebrits, Water Sector Desk, GreenCape, said: "The current water challenges we are facing present an opportunity for households and businesses to invest in water solutions that not only help immediately, but also allow for resource and money savings in the years to come. Come see what's possible."
