VIDEO: Get a Musical Education Today The Western Cape Education Department provides specialised music training at the following music education centres: The Beau Soleil Music Centre This centre has about 400 learners and specialises in the tuition of all orchestral instruments (strings, woodwind, brass and percussion) as well as piano, guitar and choir. The Centre also offers theory and the full FET curriculum for Grade 10 – Grade 12. String instruments include:

The Centre has a range of string orchestras and wind bands. The Centre established the Beau Soleil Music for Africa Trust (BSMAT) to run development programmes for learners from disadvantaged communities. Learners need to audition to be accepted into the school, and selection is based on merit. Individual tuition is complemented by the ensemble and orchestral music-making in several ensembles, five- string orchestras, two wind bands, a jazz band, an advanced chamber music group and a symphony orchestra. Pupils gain performance experience at regular concerts and events presented in the world-class Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium. Anyone can join the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre, no matter how young or old.
