HWC, WCCC, WCLC: Public Entities of DCAS

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS) delivers on its mandate by ensuring a socially inclusive, creative, active, and connected Western Cape within the arts, culture and sport fraternity and through its organisational programmes.

DCAS has contributed significantly in meeting the expectations of its stakeholders in the Cultural Affairs and Sport fraternity as well as that of civil society and other spheres of government. The operations of the Department reach across all communities through the promotion of arts and culture, libraries, museum services, heritage services, language services, archive services, together with sport and recreation.

DCAS is also responsible for three Public Entities, namely the Western Cape Cultural Commission, Western Cape Language Committee, and Heritage Western Cape.
